An Appreciation Overdue

It has been a wonderful 3 months here in Australia, and as I get to know more and more about living in the land that once was but a grasp too far, I can't help but marvel at the sovereignty of God in putting me wherever he wants and giving me the desire to go where he wills. One of the things that I recognise very distinctively is the fact that friends do not come easily, be it in your home country or even more in a foreign land. Keeping that in mind, what are the odds to find a friend whom you share so much in common? That is why I think it is time to dedicate a post to one of my closest friends. (I am a bad poet and this is very spontaneous but I hope it does mean something)

Since we stuck up a conversation,
we haven't since stopped caring;
Our paths took of on a shaky start,
jumping head over heels;
taking unknown turns,
giggling about our very own secrets,
and running ahead of the light that shines our way.
Oh many a time did we stumble,
many a times did we fall;
but what I see inspiring is
that we picked ourselves up,
brushed away the dirt and moved on ahead.
Never an instance did we say "I don't care"
nor did we wallow and quit.
I am not saying that it was easy,
nor did it not involve tears,
but I truly cherish now
the strength you shared with me.

Our journey was unpredictable,
and dangerous it was too;
but through the rain and sunshine,
and through the calm and storm;
I got to know you truly,
and you got to know me too!
Now as land and sea separates us,
I can truly say,
I will always remember who you are
and know you will do too!

You take care my fair friend,
for I know you are glory-shy;
I would have mentioned your name,
but I know you well won't want me to!

You fare well my little friend,
for life is not that simple;
You can change all you want,
but I know you'll stay true.

You be strong my dear friend,
as you strive to do whats good,
and I won't say goodbye my friend,
coz I will see you soon!

Yours Truly.
