There was once a director of the police station who went through the summons issued by his fellow police officers and he chanced upon a traffic summon issued to one of his dear friend who just recently offended the law. Being a man of integrity, instead of destroying the summon, the police director took out his wallet and paid for the fine for his friend.
It would be immoral for the the director to tear the summon and treat it as if the offence never happened! He would be fired and kicked out of the police force!
So it goes with God, who by himself is the law; it would be impossible for Him to write off our offence against His holy nature and treat it as if it never happened! Our sins has to be paid for, so instead of issuing us the summon of death, he paid it for us and boy did it cost him!
Because of Jesus's death- paying the penalty of our sins that we can now be set right before God and through Jesus we find peace with God.
"That is the Gospel! No more, no less."
